The years go by

I was sitting here pondering a friend’s comment than I say each age is harder than the last. I think maybe because just as I get the hang of how to handle a 4 year old, 5 year olds bring new challenges that I have no clue how to handle. Unfortunately kids don’t come with owners manuals and thus we have to figure out how to do it as we go along. And as soon as we get one age figured out, they go and grow, bringing a whole new set of issues to contend with. But I still stand by my statement that it shouldn’t be called the terrible twos but rather the trying threes. Five is definitely no picnic either although I hear it is much worse with boys than girls.

Interestingly, so many people have told me that 2 is way more than twice the work of one. Not feeling that at all. Obviously there are twice the number of bedtimes to do, lunches to make etc but I am finding babyhood so much easier this time around. That Jace is older too might help. At 5 he is just more self sufficient and can, occasionally, actually help out by gathering things we need to leave or amusing Trevor while I go to the bathroom. It is the small things right?
